The Savannah Yacht Club hosted one of the Laser District 12 Championship Regattas with 44 sailors traveling from Florida, Georgia, NC and SC on June 5-6. The Laser is the largest one design class in the world and will be the Men’s and Women’s One Person Dingy at the Olympics this summer in Japan.
Martine Zurinskas, a member of the US Sailing Board of Directors, was part of the signal boat for the event and offered her thanks. "Thank you to Savannah Yacht Club for hitting a home run for the Laser fleet as they return to the regatta circuit this past weekend. Breeze, great competiion and superb southern hospitality made for a successful event. As the whole country returns to the new normal, US Sailing is seeing events at maximum capacity as sailors return to the competitive waters."
